Surveying the career of a prominent Italian artist whose conceptually oriented oeuvre explores language, mathematics, cartography and other systems of ordering reality, this catalogue presents good reproductions and brief discussions of 59 works produced by Boetti from 1965 to 1994 that range from minimalist sculptural objects to intricately patterned drawings, collages and textile pieces variously incorporating pictograms, world maps and grid arrangements of block letters. Five essays investigating the existential and cultural concerns informing Boetti's work are supplemented by an extensive critical anthology, a selection of the artist's writings and a detailed biographical chronology. This is the French edition of the catalogue, published for the exhibition's Villeneuve d'Ascq venue.
