Focuses on two series of expressionistic works designed by Fautrier (1898-1964) as bitter commentaries of Nazi wartime atrocities and the brutal Soviet suppression of the 1956 Hungarian uprising. Three critical essays and reproductions of some 90 drawings are presented, as well as prints and paintings that include lyrical nude studies executed by the renowned French artist from the 1920s through the 40s, and many of the abstracted images of heads and figures that comprise his Otages and Partisans cycles.
