Documents more than 40 recent sculptures, installations and video pieces by Austrian artist Wurm (b. 1954), whose inventive oeuvre, blending elements of conceptual, minimal and performance art, encompasses wall-mounted displays of sweaters folded into sculptural shapes, installations consisting of layers of dust bearing the imprints of unidentified objects, and a video presenting five-second "portraits" of 1000 anonymous individuals. Seven critical essays include discussions of the principles underlying Wurm's interest in "dematerializing" the sculptural object, the motifs of covering and absence central to his work, and the existential themes explored in his video compositions.
