Features fine color reproductions of 30 paintings and 32 works on paper produced over the past two decades by Dublin-born American artist Scully, the selection including examples of his early hard-edge abstractions as well as many of the large-scale striped-panel compositions that have dominated his output since 1980. A lengthy interview with Scully supplements four critical essays (one reprinted) that explore the formal and spiritual values informing the artist's painterly oeuvre, his links to a broad range of art historical traditions, and his innovative revision of Modernist principles of abstraction.
