Nineteen scholarly essays include general discussions of the thematic and stylistic character of Czech Expressionism and its links to contemporary European avant-garde movements; focused appraisals of individual artists and groups; and examinations of Expressionist tendencies in Czech architecture, stage design, book illustration, music and cinema.
