This substantial review of the distinctive realist oeuvre of German painter Radziwill presents excellent reproductions of some 120 paintings and 60 watercolors and drawings dating from 1916 to 1969 along with a well-illustrated catalogue raisonne of nearly 850 oils, the works consisting primarily of ominously atmospheric landscapes and urban views and meticulously rendered still lifes reflecting the artist's strong links to Neue Sachlichkeit and Magic Realist aesthetics. Includes a detailed biographical chronology, a 1971 interview with Radziwill, and five essays tracing the development of his visionary style.
