This thorough study of Zorn's distinctive Impressionist oeuvre features an extensive six-part discussion of the artistic development and international career of the celebrated Swedish painter (1860-1920) accompanied by numerous documentary photographs and fine reproductions of some 75 oils and 80 watercolors and drawings dating from the 1870s to 1920, the selection encompassing early genre compositions, naturalistic depictions of rural and coastal scenes, and portraits of European and American society figures as well as examples of the luminous studies of nude bathers for which the artist is best known.
