Illuminating the achievements of a German Baroque painter who was active in the central European region of Silesia, this catalogue presents scholarly examinations and good reproductions of 31 paintings and 32 drawings by Willmann (many from the holdings of Polish state collections) along with documentation of numerous frescoes by the artist. Six essays chronicle Willmann's career and discuss the extensive cycle of works he produced for the Cistercian monastery in Lubiaz, his contacts with Dutch artists, and his accomplishments as a draughtsman.
