Highlighting the major body of work produced by celebrated American photographer Edward Weston (1886-1958) from 1937 to 1939 under a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship grant, this catalogue presents fine reproductions of nearly 120 images that include numerous panoramic views of the desert and mountain landscapes of the West as well as close-up studies of rock formations and vegetation. Two essays provide a detailed account of Weston's Fellowship years and examine the pivotal importance of the featured photographs to the progression of his oeuvre.
