ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG. Ed. by Armin Zweite. Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Dusseldorf, 1994. Published in association with DuMont Buchverlag, Cologne. 212 pp. with 73 ills. (51 col.). 31 x 26 cm. LC 95-142796 ISBN 3926154225 Bilingual in German and English.
Showcases 36 mixed-media compositions and twelve sculptures selected from eight series produced by celebrated American artist Rauschenberg (b. 1925) from 1986 to 1991, presenting full-page reproductions of works that range from wall-mounted and freestanding assemblages of scrap metal to large-scale aluminum, brass and steel panels of silkscreened photographic images, many of them overpainted with gestural brushstrokes. A critical reappraisal of Rauschenberg's innovative work of the 1950s and 60s and an extensive explication of one of the exhibited paintings preface individual analyses of the featured series. Final copy is in very good condition.
