Surveys wall-mounted sculptural compositions produced from 1984 to 1993 by prominent German artist Walther (b. 1939), presenting thorough documentation of 21 individual and multi-part works that consist primarily of architectonic constructions and variable configurations of box-like forms created from colored fabric. Excellent photographs of the works as installed in the Villa Merkel and full-page reproductions of preparatory drawings for the pieces augment three critical texts that explore references to architecture and the human body in Walther's sculpture and illuminate the formal and conceptual concerns underlying the progression of his work since the 1960s.
