Published by Edition Cantz, Stuttgart. 72 pp. with 36 ills. (22 col.) and 27 reference ills. 31 x 31 cm. LC 94-115740 ISBN 3893225447 Bilingual in German and English.
Selectively surveys the innovative oeuvre of American Post-Minimalist sculptor Sonnier (b. 1941) through a presentation of 26 works dating from 1965 to 1992, among them fabric-shrouded floor pieces, configurations of bamboo rods, wall-mounted discs inscribed with scientific symbols and many of the abstract neon sculptures for which the artist is best known. Excellent full-page photographs of the exhibited pieces are prefaced by two essays examining the process-oriented character of Sonnier's works of the late 1960s, his use of latex, foam rubber and other non-traditional materials, and his exploration of telecommunication imagery.
