Including two critical essays and a detailed biographical chronology, this catalogue features excellent full-page reproductions of some 150 drawings, watercolors and mixed-media paintings produced from 1965 to 1993 by prominent Belgian artist Alechinsky (b. 1927), whose expressive gestural compositions based on dense abstract and figurative motifs reflect the influence of Japanese calligraphy and the artist's involvement with the COBRA group from 1949 to 1951.
