Encompassing documentation of three concurrent exhibitions exploring the primary stages in the career of Michael Snow (b. 1929), this catalogue provides a major analysis of the complex interdisciplinary oeuvre of one of the key figures in contemporary Canadian art, presenting illustrations of some 250 works that include abstract and figurative paintings, drawings and sculptures (among them many of Snow's well-known Walking Woman works) as well as photographs, holograms, films and sound-based installations. Eleven essays include discussions of Snow's early artistic development and critical reception, his involvement with Minimalism and experimental filmmaking in the late 1960s, his holograms and his photographic exploration of modes of visual perception, and his public commissions.
