Presents still images from four video and film installations produced from 1986 to 1993 by African Canadian artist Douglas (b. 1960), the works variously intermingling elements from silent films or television programs with original footage and atonal or jazz scores to form commentaries on a wide range of cultural, historical and media-related themes. Descriptions of the featured projects are accompanied by two essays examining the distinctive visual syntax of Douglas's oeuvre and his innovative use of music.
