OP BARRY FLANAGAN. Fundacion "la Caixa," Madrid, 1993. Organized in association with British Council, London. 146 pp. with 140 ills. (17 col.). 30 x 24 cm. ISBN 847664423X Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Surveys the individualistic oeuvre of prominent British artist Flanagan (b. 1941) through a presentation of some 70 sculptures and 27 drawings dating from 1966 to 1992, among them wall-mounted fabric pieces and works in carved stone reflecting the sculptor's early links to Minimalism as well as biomorphic objects in clay and many of the enigmatic, cartoon-like bronzes of hares that have dominated his output since 1980. Two critical essays examine the progression of Flanagan's career and discuss the relationship of his artistic approach to the iconoclastic views of Alfred Jarry and Marcel Duchamp.
