OP DOROTHEA TANNING. Malmo Konsthall, 1993. 140 pp. with 75 ills. (42 col.). 29 x 24 cm. ISBN 9177040597 Bilingual in Swedish and English.
Reviews the distinctive surrealist oeuvre of American artist Tanning (b. 1910) through a presentation of nearly 40 paintings and some 20 drawings and other works dating from 1942 to 1992, among them meticulously rendered tableaux depicting young girls in ominous, dream-like settings and dynamic, semi-abstract compositions featuring distorted and intertwined human figures. An overview of Tanning's career in New York and Europe and a brief critical essay are supplemented by an interview with the artist and an autobiographical text (both first published in 1974).
