Documenting a series of monumental works produced over an eight-year period (1985-1993) by prominent American artist Judy Chicago (b. 1938) in collaboration with needleworkers, glass artisans, metalworkers, weavers and her husband, photographer Donald Woodman, this catalogue features excellent reproductions of 15 multi-panel compositions exploring themes related to the Holocaust, encompassing paintings, a stained-glass piece and photo-based images depicting concentration camp atrocities and other scenes of persecution, slavery and war. Illustrated with numerous documentary photographs, the text of the volume consists of Chicago's detailed personal chronicle of the long process of researching the Holocaust and planning and producing the featured works.
