This major survey of the oeuvre of pioneering Pop artist Lichtenstein (b. 1923) features outstanding pictorial documentation of more than 160 paintings and some 25 sculptures drawn from a host of public and private collections, presenting important examples from virtually every series of works produced by the artist from the 1960s through the 1980s as well as a selection of pre-Pop canvases. A 15-part chronicle of Lichtenstein's career illuminates the progression of his stylistic and thematic concerns through analyses of individual motifs explored by the artist from his earliest use of comic-strip imagery to his recent renderings of domestic interiors.
