Published to accompany the second of the two principal exhibitions organized to commemorate the centenary of Miro's birth (see also Worldwide 24108), this outstanding catalogue reviews the singular achievements of the renowned Catalan artist (1893-1983) through a presentation of nearly 190 paintings spanning his career, while also illustrating some 90 drawings, collages, sculptures and ceramic works that reflect the broad range of his pictorial and technical innovations. Excellent reproductions of the featured pieces are preceded by a lengthy four-part examination of Miro's artistic development from 1923 to 1945 that illuminates his working methods and the underlying structures of his oeuvre through detailed examinations of his sketchbooks and analyses of individual paintings.
