Features excellent reproductions of 36 canvases from six lesser-known series of abstract paintings produced by Warhol (1928-1987) from 1977 to 1986, among them monumental compositions based on images of tangled yarn, Rorschach patterns and military camouflage. An essay discussing the impulse toward abstraction implicit in Warhol's artistic approach and the significance of his experiments with Abstract Expressionist styles is supplemented by a brief appraisal of the artist's films of the early 1960s.
