Surveying civic, recreational and religious structures designed by Maroni in the 1920s and 30s in the Lake Garda region of northern Italy, this catalogue presents a detailed study of the career of the Italian architect (1893-1952), highlighting his projects for the resort town of Riva del Garda and providing extensive pictorial documentation of Il Vittoriale degli Italiani, a sprawling villa restored by Maroni for celebrated author and political leader Gabriele D'Annunzio. An anthology of critical texts dating mainly from the 1930s supplements eight essays that include appraisals of Maroni's oeuvre, examinations of his role in the development of Riva del Garda following World War I, and three discussions of his collaboration with D'Annunzio in the design and decoration of Il Vittoriale.
