Thoroughly reviews the innovative body of work produced by German artist Palermo (1943-1977) over the course of his brief career, presenting clear reproductions of some 140 abstract watercolors, drawings, paintings, prints and mixed-media pieces that variously reflect his links to constructivist and minimalist aesthetics and the influence of his studies with Joseph Beuys during the 1960s. Among the catalogue's eleven texts are discussions of Palermo's intensive explorations of color, space and geometric form, examinations of his fabric compositions and his wall drawings and paintings of the late 1960s and early 70s, and a reprinted 1984 interview with Beuys.
