SONSBEEK 93. Ed. by Jan Brand et al. Park Sonsbeek and other sites, Arnhem, 1993. Published by Snoeck-Ducaju & Zoon, Ghent. 320 pp. with 419 ills. 33 x 22 cm. ISBN 9053490655 In English.
Published in conjunction with the most recent in an intermittent 40-year series of innovative sculpture exhibitions in Arnhem, this unusual volume informally documents preliminary proposals for a wide variety of projects designed specifically for public spaces in and around the city (the completed works to be presented in a later catalogue) while also providing transcripts of journal entries, interviews and letters that chronicle interactions between the curator of the show and the more than 60 international artists invited to participate, among them Mike Kelley, Ann Hamilton, Michael Asher, Alighiero e Boetti, Annette Messager and Remy Zaugg. Includes numerous photographs of the artists along with descriptions and sketches of proposed projects ranging from the installation of monumental words on Arnhem's two bridges and the re-creation of a section of New York's Central Park to the erection of a solar-powered structure to generate rainbows.
