Surveying the career of noted African American artist Edwards (b. 1937), this catalogue features illustrations of some 130 abstract metal sculptures that range from small assemblages to large-scale steel-plate constructions composed of discs, arcs and other geometric forms. A biographical text traces the evolution of Edwards's oeuvre in the context of contemporary trends in sculpture while two essays discuss the artist's freestanding works and his Lynch Fragments, an ongoing series of wall-mounted pieces composed of chains, clamps, spikes and other found objects.
