Published to accompany the second venue of the Panini exhibition first presented at the Louvre in 1992 (Worldwide 23847), this catalogue features full-page reproductions and individual discussions of 43 paintings by the celebrated Italian artist, among them 20 canvases from the Louvre's holdings along with 19 works from Italian collections not presented in the Paris show. Three well-illustrated critical essays (not included in the French catalogue) survey Panini's career, discuss his influential depictions of major urban sites and monuments, and examine his links with French painters active in Rome during the 18th century.
