Published to accompany a noteworthy display of outdoor sculptural installations at the Floriade, a major horticultural exhibition held in Europe every ten years, this catalogue features 26 well-illustrated texts (many of them reprinted) by prominent artists and critics including Dan Graham, Robert Smithson, Keith Haring, Donald Judd, Rosalind Krauss, Krzysztof Wodiczko and Thomas McEvilley, who present diverse perspectives on the relationship of public art to contemporary society and to natural and artificial environments. An accompanying booklet documents with illustrations and brief commentaries varied installations created for the exhibition by Vito Acconci, Matt Mullican, Rob Scholte, Ashley Bickerton, Marinus Boezem, Ian Hamilton Finlay and 17 other international artists.
