Illustrations of the featured works and related installations by the artists are accompanied by individual critical texts, an overview of the development of installation art based on detailed analyses of notable works exhibited or created in Chicago since the late 1960s, and a discussion of the exhibition site, a cavernous armory soon to be replaced by the Museum's new facility.
