OP JEFF KOONS. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, 1992. 132 pp. with 82 ills. (78 col.). 28 x 26 cm. LC 92-16813 ISBN 0918471273 In English.
Surveys the controversial oeuvre of American artist Koons (b. 1955) through a presentation of more than 60 sculptures and paintings representing seven thematic series of works produced from 1979 to 1991, ranging from displays of vacuum cleaners, basketballs and inflatable toys to large-scale porcelain and stainless steel replicas of kitsch figurines and explicit sexual depictions of the artist and his wife. Brief statements by Koons interspersed among full-page reproductions of the featured works augment four essays which discuss the concepts of power, materialism, high and low culture, and sexuality explored in Koons's art and review the polarized critical responses to his work.
