Documenting an outstanding selection of sculptures never before exhibited outside Cambodia, this catalogue showcases 35 stone and bronze works produced primarily during the Khmer kings' reign in Angkor, including representations of Hindu and Buddhist deities, ceremonial objects, and architectural elements dating from the 6th to the early 13th century. Descriptive commentaries accompany excellent full-page reproductions of the featured objects, while two introductory essays trace the history of the National Museum of Cambodia and discuss the artistic legacy of the Angkor period.
