Featuring full-page reproductions of pencil drawings, watercolors, gouaches, collages and paintings drawn almost exclusively from private collections, this catalogue presents 189 compositions produced chiefly from the 1910s to the early 30s by Kasimir Malevich (1878-1935) and two of his noted students, Nicolai Suetin (1897-1954) and Ilya Chashnik (1902-1929). An introductory essay examining the development of Suprematism in Malevich's UNOVIS workshops in Vitebsk and St. Petersburg is supplemented by a selection of letters and statements by the artists.
