Descriptive commentaries on the exhibited works follow some 40 essays addressing a broad range of historical, ethnographic and cultural subjects, including Viking settlements in the North Atlantic, trading activities in Europe and Asia, oral poetry traditions, pre-Christian mythology, and specific forms of decorative and religious art.
