Ten essays address a diverse range of topics including the history of botanical illustration, the symbolism of flowers in still-life and allegorical paintings, styles of porcelain and enamel floral decoration, and the "artistic" gardens created by William Morris, Emile Galle, Claude Monet and Emil Nolde.
