Selected from the outstanding collection of Leonardo drawings housed at Windsor Castle, the 41 anatomical studies highlighted in this catalogue were produced by the artist from 1489 to 1513 and reflect the evolution of both his knowledge of the human body and his skill as an illustrator. An introductory essay discussing Leonardo's anatomical researches is augmented by extensive commentaries on the drawings (incorporating transcriptions of the artist's notes) which explain the historical context of the works and assess their medical accuracy.
