Documenting the first exhibition to fully survey the oeuvre of renowned French Art Nouveau architect Hector Guimard (1867-1942), this catalogue presents a host of architectural drawings, period and modern photographs of facades and interiors, sketches for a wide range of decorative works, and examples of furniture, stained-glass windows, textiles, jewelry, pottery and ornamental metalwork designed by Guimard. Features sixteen texts that carefully reappraise the architect's individualistic achievements, discussing the evolution and impact of his exuberant style and highlighting designs for villas, urban mansions and such major projects as the Parisian apartment building Castel Beranger (1895-1898) and the controversial entrances for the city's railway stations (1899-1903).
