Providing an outstanding survey of the development of Spanish photography over the past two decades, the first volume of this catalogue presents full-page reproductions of nearly 150 photographs grouped in four categories (conceptual images, staged and surreal compositions, documentary works and process-altered photographs) along with five essays discussing the history and character of photography in postwar Spain and critical commentaries on the 49 artists featured in the exhibition. The second volume, including directories of photography galleries, journals, associations and festivals in Spain, chiefly comprises detailed biographical data for some 250 contemporary Spanish photographers accompanied by small reproductions of representative works.
