Showcasing selections from the Museum's recently established collection of landscape photographs embodying realistic views of natural and man-altered environments in the United States, this lavishly illustrated catalogue presents a diverse array of some 100 images by 39 photographers, including Linda Connor, Mark Klett, Richard Misrach, Robert Glenn Ketchum, John Pfahl and Robert Dawson. Three essays discuss the complex revisions of landscape traditions being advanced by contemporary photographers and the social, environmental and personal concerns underlying the artistic approaches reflected in the featured works.
