Fine reproductions of sophisticated altar sculptures, ritual objects, palace plaques and diverse implements as well as Benin-influenced works from neighboring Yoruba kingdoms are accompanied by scholarly texts describing the history of Benin and the function and meaning of the 22 classes of objects represented in the exhibition.
