An essay based on extensive conversations with the artist provides a review of his career, an analysis of the significance of printmaking and book illustration in his oeuvre, and discussions of such topics as his involvement with the Informel movement during the 1950s, his innovative use of traditional printmaking techniques, and the significance of figurative references in his work.
