Highlights 74 paintings, drawings and prints by Van Thulden, providing the first substantial examination of the history and religious painter active in Antwerp, The Hague and Paris who was strongly influenced by Rubens but whose style embodied a distinctive personal idiom. In addition to illustrations and scholarly analyses of the exhibited pieces and a catalogue raisonne of the 161 works attributed to the artist, the catalogue includes six essays reviewing Van Thulden's career, assessing the impact of his political and religious context on his development, and discussing his history paintings and collaborations with Rubens.
