Thoroughly reviewing the career of noted Danish sculptor Jacobsen (b. 1912) from his early Expressionist and Surrealist experiments of the 1940s through his extensive explorations of Constructivist aesthetics since the early 50s, this catalogue features full-page reproductions of 80 works, among them numerous examples of the artist's abstract welded iron sculptures as well as a series of figurative "dolls" composed of scrap metal and found objects. The text of a 1985 interview with Jacobsen and a substantial critical anthology supplement two essays discussing the course of his artistic development and examining his oeuvre in relation to the work of such figures as Gabo, Pevsner and Chillida.
