Fifteen illustrated essays describing the principal trends in Berlin art over the last 30 years and discussing such topics as the problematic dialogue between Eastern and Western European artists and the rise of photo-based and installation art are supplemented with a detailed chronology of cultural and historical events and biographical notes for the featured artists, among them many prominent as well as lesser-known figures.
