Includes numerous lengthy commentaries on individual works, an overview of Jawlensky's career and stylistic development, a reprinted essay discussing in detail the inventive serial imagery that dominated his late work, and an examinination of the influence of his painting techniques and image sequences on Rothko and other artists.
