Published in an American edition on the occasion of the Museum's exhibition but not a catalogue of the show, this book presents a series of highly naturalistic studies of the female nude produced over the past 13 years by prominent American photographer Friedlander (b. 1934). An informal critical essay explores the artist's motivations and techniques, discussing his unglamorous portrayal of the nude in relation to the approaches adopted by Weston, Strand and other photographers.
