GUNTHER FORG. Musee d'art moderne de la Ville de Paris, 1991. 156 pp. with 75 ills. (64 col.). 30 x 27 cm. Bilingual in French and English.
Four brief critical essays introduce this chiefly pictorial catalogue featuring diverse new works by German abstract artist Forg (b. 1952), including more than 40 large-scale canvases dominated by monochromatic rectilinear forms that reflect his extension of the aesthetics of Ellsworth Kelly and Blinky Palermo, and ten black-and-white photographs of the Dessau Bauhaus that constitute an homage to the architectural principles of Constructivism. Installation views of four recent exhibitions illustrate Forg's monolithic sculptural pieces and illuminate the site-specific qualities of his work.
