The first volume presents eleven scholarly essays examining stylistic, thematic and regional developments, illustrated with numerous small photographs of public monuments and other works. Included in the second volume are reproductions of the 137 exhibited pieces (mainly academic figural sculptures) and substantial biographical discussions of the 110 artists represented in the show, among them Constantin Meunier, George Minne and many lesser-known figures.
