This major survey of the pioneering oeuvre of Hungarian-born artist, photographer and designer Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) reproduces hundreds of diverse works by the important Constructivist artist, including photographs and photograms, paintings and drawings, architectural and graphic designs, and theater and film projects which reflect his links to the artistic ideology of Malevich and his lifelong interest in the properties of light, space and motion. Four substantial essays examine the phases of Moholy-Nagy's career in Europe and America and his complex explorations of varied media, and an anthology of theoretical texts by the artist illuminates his adherence to and extension of Constructivist principles.
