OP HANS ARP: DIE METAMORPHOSE DER FIGUR (Hans Arp: The Metamorphosis of the Figure). Museum Ludwig, Cologne, 1991. 176 pp. with 134 ills. (50 col.). 30 x 24 cm. In German.
Extensively surveys the elegant biomorphic abstractions of the human form that dominated the late work of Franco-Swiss artist Arp (1886-1966), featuring fine reproductions of nearly 120 drawings, sculptures, collages, reliefs and paintings rooted in Surrealist imagery but bearing strong links to the aesthetics of Brancusi and Moore. An essay examining the human figure as a central motif in Arp's late sculpture is complemented by a selection of poems and other writings by the artist and an illustrated biographical text.
