Organized by Dicastero alla Cultura della Repubblica di San Marino. Published by Marotta & Marotta Editori, Naples. 326 pp. with 575 ills. (166 col.). 31 x 21 cm. In Italian.
The first thorough examination of the achievements of Bragaglia (1896-1985), an Italian painter and theorist of the avant-garde theater, this catalogue features illustrations of more than 400 drawings and paintings dating mainly from the 1910s and 20s which reflect the artist's exploration of a Futurist mode of dynamic abstraction based on swirling organic forms. Five essays reappraising Bragaglia's contributions to Futurist art and theater are complemented by a critical anthology and a selection of 21 texts by the artist discussing painting, scenography, architecture and the dance.
