Providing a fine pictorial review of the internationally influential works of Japanese architect Isozaki (b. 1931), this catalogue includes photographs, drawings and concise descriptions of more than 40 projects, ranging from residential and large-scale commercial structures in Japan to designs for American museums. Two critical essays examine Isozaki's approach (especially with reference to the works of his mentor, Kenzo Tange, and of 19th-century Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel) and discuss the increasingly personalized character of his designs since 1980.
